Trump, Putin and the scoop of the “Guardian”

Vladimir Putin himself is said to have ordered the operation to elect Donald Trump, according to reports The Guardian. In its July 15 edition, the British daily claims to have been able to consult a series of classified documents that have allegedly leaked from the Kremlin. According to them, the Russian president ordered his spy agencies to use “All the strength possible” to help the Republican candidate win the White House in November 2016. The decision was reportedly made after a meeting of the National Security Council on January 22, 2016.

One of the documents, including The Guardian publishes a facsimile extract in Cyrillic, describes Donald Trump as a “Impulsive, mentally unstable and unbalanced individual suffering from an inferiority complex”. By supporting it, argues the author, Moscow will have leverage over American policy towards Russia, while the sanctions imposed by Washington after the annexation of Crimea in 2014 caused tensions in Russian society. He predicts that a Trump victory “Will certainly lead to the destabilization of the socio-political system” the United States.

Among the techniques considered: the implantation of “Media viruses” intended to manipulate opinion by exploiting America’s weaknesses – media polarization, anti-establishment sentiment.

The authors of the article in Guardian – Luke Harding, investigator and former correspondent in Moscow, Julian Borger, editor-in-chief of international pages, and Dan Sabbagh, defense and security columnist – say Western intelligence agencies have been aware of these documents for several months. They add that they have submitted their extracts to “Independent experts”, who judged them “Authentic”. Nevertheless, they surround themselves with repeated rhetorical precautions.

A “disinformation operation”

Decree “Seems” signed by Vladimir Putin, indicates The Guardian. The documents “Are estimated to be” from leaks in the Kremlin. And they bring a “Apparent confirmation” that the Russian services have compromising elements obtained during Donald Trump’s previous visits to Moscow, a highly controversial element on which the light has never been shed. The Russian document refers to “Certain events”, referenced, it is written, in appendix 5. Unfortunately, the appendix in question is missing precisely in the document leaked to Guardian.
